xray-bone CONSULTATIONS

Your consultation aims to identify the nature of your complaint and underlying structural dysfunctions that may be contributing to it. It involves:

  • Recording what concerns you, it’s history, past medical concerns, and bio-mechanical/life-style habits that may be associated to it
  • Physical examination observing simple movements to more specific neurological, or orthopaedic tests as may be necessary.
  • Palpatory examination observing quality of movement in joints and; tone and texture in muscles and connective tissue.

Subsequent consultations may involve a brief re-examination to monitor your progress, and further treatment tailored accordingly.

Please note in the event of a medical emergency you must always call 000. If you suspect signs of unexpected pathology, or have medical concerns you must consult your GP. You will be referred to your medical practitioner if any sign of abnormal pathology outside our scope of practice is noted.

xray-treatment TREATMENT

Treatment follows your consultation, and is an extension of examination, involving manual techniques, including massage targeting specific areas, stretching of joints and connective tissue, articulation, mobilisation, and muscle energy techniques amongst others. These techniques aim to improve blood flow, flexibility and tension/tone in those tissues.

As part of your treatment you may be shown exercises to help strengthen or stretch, and address issues with posture, ergonomic and breathing patterns. The aim is to address weaknesses in biomechanics and posture that contribute to injuries. Addressing these weaknesses may help recovery and prevention of future re-occurrence, and encourage your overall health and vitality.

Osteopathic treatment is generally considered safe but occasionally it may aggravate, or cause adverse reactions in some people. Often this may not be dissimilar to being sore after exertion, but in all cases you’re advised to contact us, or consult your GP, and farther treatments or investigations may be recommended.
