The musculoskeletal system uses 80% of our energy
output for movement, and support our organs.
Our general development and well-being depends
on it. Osteopaths undergo 5 year full-time training
to help treat musculoskeletal conditions.
Osteopathy can help!
Make an enquiryPREGNANCY
During and after your pregnancy you may seek the advice of an Osteopath to help manage musculoskeletal pain; that may be compounded by the physical and hormonal changes you go through.
You may get help managing symptoms such as:
- Hip & back pain
- sciatica
- neck & shoulder pain
- tingling in the hands & feet
- Head aches
After the birth, you may wish to visit us with your newborn.
BABIES
Osteopathic treatment may be able to help recovery from some of the traumatic effects that can take place during or after birth; minimising it’s shock to your baby; and can take place as soon after birth as necessary.
Examples of issues you may experience include:
- Irritability & difficulty settling or sleeping
- Reflux & colic
- Recurrent infections of the ears, and sinuses
- Concerns about physical & mental development and growth.
Physical trauma during or after birth may
strain ligaments, joints and/or impair nervous function
effecting mobility, breathing, feeding or digestion. Gentle
hands-on osteopathic techniques are used for treatment on
newborns, and toddlers.
Please note we are not trained in paediatric medicine. Please
consult your medical practitioner if you have concerns about
your child thriving.
CHILDREN
Injuries playing, falls and knocks, poor posture & breathing habits, or a simple growth spurt, may all result in what may become a chronic issue later. The resolution of these injuries is important, as they could be masked and compensated for, sometimes for many years without our awareness.
Conditions for which children and teenagers may seek the advice of an Osteopath include:
- Growing pains & cramps
- Hip, knee and ankle pains
- Back pain and scoliosis
- Sporting injuries
- Neck pain & Head-aches
- Nasal & ear infections
- Asthma, apnea
- some developmental issues
ADULTS
Regardless of age or gender most of us will suffer from:
- hip pain, back pain, sciatica and disc injuries
- neck & shoulder pain or whiplash
- head aches & migraines
- nerve related injuries or neuralgia
- knee & foot pain, or shin splints & heel spurs
- tennis/golfers elbow, wrist pain or Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
- Repetitive strain or sports injuries
- postural and breathing issues
- Indigestion, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) or constipation
Osteopathy may help you better manage these issues, aiming to:
- reduce muscular tension/inflammation and nerve irritation
- improve joint mobility & balance
- improve cardiovascular circulation
- offer advice on ergonomics & posture, with exercises to help
- reduce the duration of painful episodes, and minimise future episodes
SENIORS
Ageing on the body can cause:
- development of chronic musculoskeletal issues
- stiff & painful joints
- sore aching muscles
- poor balance & concentration, or blurred vision
- digestive issues, and sluggish metabolism
- high blood pressure, and blood sugar issues
Keeping mobile is the key to your health, and independence. Osteopaths offer treatment and advice to help better your body’s natural healing processes, improving mobility, and circulation. We aim to help you lead a more active life.
Without the presence of a traumatic or pathological cause, many complaints can be a result of repetitive strain injuries (RSI). Whether you are a professional athlete, or work in an office we may help manage and treat many complaints of
- neck and/or shoulder pain
- back & hip pain
- elbow and wrist injuries
- knee, ankle and foot injuries
- tennis/golfers elbow
- shin splints, and hamstring/adductor strains
- rib dysfunction
Your osteopath may also help manage and prevent compensatory strains, involving other areas in your body. This will minimise re-injury and allow for better long-term recovery.
For example:
- hamstring and groin injuries may involve low back or pelvic restriction and imbalances
- knee pain may be related to poor foot, ankle and hip bio-mechanics, and excessive muscle tension
- shoulder, elbow & wrist injuries may be associated with postural and breathing dysfunctions
- shin splints & calf pain may involve poor ankle and hip bio-mechanics
We all use our bodies differently, and injuries with their causes vary from person to person. Injuries may often involve disturbances effecting other areas impeding your health.
